Take the Bring Change 2 Mind Pledge to help fight and eventually end the stigma against people with mental illnesses, also known as brain disorders.
As I shared with many people, I am "A Son of Suicide."
I have very personal and important reasons to believe so strongly in this cause -- I lost my mother, Diane Marcus Roy -- 19 1/2 years ago to suicide.
We all have a dog in this fight. Please join us. I'm making this personal plea to everyone who sees this. And after you've taken the pledge, do something!

I've taken it and have done quite a bit, I say humbly, especially when it comes to my reporting on suicide and suicide prevention. It saved lives.

I have nothing but love and the greatest admiration for Rosalynn Carter, our former First Lady who has been a champion in the effort to bring parity to insurance coverage for mental health treatment, and has bravely spoken about the stigma and the need for us to bring it out of the shadows and into the light of knowledge, love and acceptance.

My proverbial hat is also off and tipped to Ms. Glenn Close and her sister, Jessie, who are proving treatment works and saves lives. Glenn Close founded Bring Change 2 Mind in honor of her sister who, unlike my mother, is living with bipolar disorder.
