My mental health reporting has broken ground, taken aim at taboo subjects which even today still means anything and every topic related to mental health, brain disorders, the stigma, and helping to solve these various issues which we are far behind the times compared with the progress we've made on cancer, heart disease, you name it -- anything that makes us sick or improves our health that supposedly isn't a mental health issue.  But our overall health and every subject you can come up with all leads back to our minds.  The brain is by far the most important thing we've got.  It makes sense that keeping it healthy should be our top priority.  That means talking openly and honestly about how we're doing "up there" and with whomever and seeking information so we know what the warning signs are and if we spot them, knowing exactly what to do or where to turn so that no one falls through the cracks of our system.
Experienced and Popular Public Speaker:  I pride myself on doing my homework and like the Boy Scout I am, I must "Be Prepared."  As a journalist, I've reported on most major causes and will prepare a memorable, entertaining, and moving program whatever the cause.  I'll make you laugh and cry and even pee in your pants maybe if you want a comedian and that is what your night of show is all about.
Not overselling myself.
You name it, let's work together -- or just put me in charge and I'll help you attract more ticket buyers, guests, donors, supporters and talk up your silent auction items, raffle tickets and get the crowd buzzing like it's "The Price is Right."  Come on down!  We're solving stigma and having fun, too.
And we'll have more than a few poignant moments to pay tribute to and honor those we've lost and the people currently living with and surviving all that modern medicine has made possible to be triumphant over which sure beats the alternative.

As "A Son of Suicide," I look forward to speaking about and taking on the elephant in the room that everyone else pretends not to see or feel.
But once I get going, watch out!
Everyone knows all too well about mental illnesses, loving someone, taking care of someone, being that someone who hears "that's crazy" and how it hurts -- both of you deeply.

Ironically, it often turns out that the name callers, the seemingly most insensitive ones are overcompensating and acting as if his or her life is perfect and like mental health/illness has never even come close to them.

9 times out of 10, they wind up being the most clinically depressed people who need psychiatric help the most and it works.  Education, caring and LOVE encourages all of us to learn more, give of ourselves and become warriors for every kind of worthwhile cause.
That's what I'm about.
Helping others.  Winning.  Fighting for mental health equality.  Yes, we are far behind every other cause in terms of raising awareness and funds for brain research and that's regrettable.  But I know for a fact we can and will change that.  Many people doubted we'd ever be able to cure cancer or talk about it without fear that it could be contagious.
Look at how far we've come in the past 30 years with that!
During that same time, the suicide rate has only risen.  Steadily.  That fact alone says we've got work to do!  Human beings must start to care and show it and we'll get them to be as excited if not even more so than the yellow bracelets everywhere campaign or color pink month or even the Camelot Administration's race to be first to put man on the moon.
Man exploring our minds.
The last great frontier.
Why should that be so formidable if we can cure many kinds of cancer, including some brain tumors.

I know we'll find cures for every brain disorder and mental illness and it will all come much sooner than many people think.  If they ever think about this.

Losing my mother to suicide has made me a better person in many ways but how I'd give that up in a fraction of a second to have one more moment with the best human being I've known, love even more than ever and miss with such heartache.
Such is the cross that survivors of suicide bear when we lose a loved one in a way that isn't comparable to other losses.

It makes me think of a song by Bread that warms my heart with her memory and fills it with grief at what the world and I no longer have.

Everything I Own Lyrics

"Everything I Own" is track #10 on the album The Best Of Bread. It was written by Gates, David.

You sheltered me from harm
Kept me warm, kept me warm
You gave my life to me
Set me free, set me free
The finest years I ever knew,
Were all the years I had with you
And I would give anything I own
I'd give up my life, my heart, my home
I would give everything I own,

Just to have you back again
You taught me how to love
What a time, what a time
You never said too much,
But still you showed the way
And I knew from watching you
Nobody else could ever know,
The part of me that can't let go
And I would give anything I own,
I'd give up my life, my heart, my home
I would give everything I own,
Just to have you back again
Is there someone you know,
Your loving them so,
But taking them all for granted?
You may lose them one day
Someone takes them away,
And they don't hear the words you long to say
I would give anything I own,
I'd give up my life, my heart, my home
I would give everything I own,
Just to have you back again;
Just to touch you once again
Then there's the Grammy Award winning song written by Richard Marxx and sung to perfection by Luther Vandross.  It's the other parental figure, however, that I sing to and often.

"Spin me around 'til I fell asleep.  And I knew for sure I was loved.  If I could get another chance, another walk, another dance with her.  I'd play a song that would never ever end.  Oh I'd love to dance with my mother....again."
I'll also ask our group to stand up and "Take the Pledge" to help end the stigma against people with mental illnesses (if this is on topic for your event, of course.)  Education is key to taking down hat is taboo topic, pulling and yanking them out of the darkness of the proverbial closet filled with paralyzing and often lethal fear which stems from ignorance.
We won't be putting anyone to sleep.
It's interesting, entertaining, powerful and guests leave having learned something that they can share with others and be helpful in many ways.
I'm available FT, PT, Freelance, as a Guest Speaker, interview guest for TV, Radio, all media platforms, any and all kinds of events, fundraisers.
I've been MC, host, the Ringmaster in the spotlight for more than two decades and have done just about every imaginable kind of function, and can also serve as a Wedding Officiant who handles all the details from beginning to end, including procuring the license, location, all it takes, always exceeding industry standards or best practices.  Excellence.  What else is there?
Want more butts in your banquet hall, stadium, theater, auditorium, outdoor venue?
Experience begets knowledge and that, in turn, results in a very loyal fan base who will return with more supporters and before you know it, donations are rising impressively.

Again, well versed on any topic.  An Anchorman who knows a lot about a lot, especially how to slay the stigma as well as how to overcome life's greatest challenges.
-- Another popular topic I've presented many times:  7 Great Secrets you must know and use to overcome any kind of adversity and be triumphant in life!  Winning big, as you define it.

If you want a preview, can't give away my proprietary information here, call me.  Let's sit down, meet and I'll answer all of your questions and give you a working outline when we've decided to work together.

I ask everyone I meet and know to Take the Pledge to help end the stigma against people with mental illnesses by Bring Change 2 Mind.
Mental health equality is our most important civil rights issue; comparable to the civil rights marches and demonstrations to end racial segregation.
The pledge is on my site, www.AnchorKevinMarcus.com where you can also watch my life-saving  Mental Health Reporting.  It's prevented suicide by moving people to get psychiatric help that keeps people with mental illnesses -- especially bipolar disorder -- alive.
Committing to help this cause which affects all of us somehow doesn't have to cost much or be overwhelming by any means.  It's easy, I think.  Start by spreading the word, tell everyone you know about it and ask them to Take the Pledge, too.
If you tell two friends and they tell two friends and so on and so on and so on, before you know it, we'll have brought change 2 everyone's mind and that should make a tremendous difference overall.
