His wife, Chaz, read Roger's answers to my questions, revealing their "Love Story."
I saved one question for the end: "What does Chaz mean to you?"
Roger scribbled his answer in "The Notebook." Chaz read it silently.
"Well?"
"She's my rock," Chaz said. "I wouldn't be here today without her."
Tears flowed. We needed another box of tissues.
We scrambled to make the 5:00pm News live from Champaign at Ebertfest.
To those who questioned whether Roger should be seen in public, he had this reply: "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
